Consultation about Community Councils

Community Councils work all over Scotland and how they are set up is reviewed every four years by the Scottish government and the local authority.  Argyll & Bute Council has launched the first stage of this year’s review and the details can be found here.  They refer to proposed changes to the formal Scheme for the Establishment of Community Councils, which affect things like eligibility for election to a Community Council, resignations, temporary appointments and handling of complaints.  Anyone, and any organisation, can respond directly to Argyll & Bute Council.  The last date for responses to this stage of consultation is 22 April 2022.  There will be a second stage, probably towards the end of May.

New Community Council elections will be held later this year.  Argyll & Bute Council will organise the elections and will invite nominations in the period 18 August-8 September 2022
